In 2022, Marisa was elected as a Durham Catholic School Board Trustee for the Town of Ajax where she currently serves as Vice Chair of the Durham Catholic School Board.

Marisa is a parent of two children in DCDSB, is an active parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church where she participates in various ministries and is a ministry lead of a liturgical ministry. Marisa considers herself a proud and active Catholic.

As a Catholic School Board Trustee, she is committed to strengthening the relationship between church, school, family and community. Marisa believes every child is made in the image and likeness of Christ and is committed to ensuring DCDSB policies and practices create safe places for our children to learn and grow in faith including those children who identify as part of a group that has historically experienced any type of exclusion. She is committed to listening with the ear of her heart and working in collaboration with her fellow trustees, students, families and staff to further the goals of Catholic education

A career dedicated to community/organizational development, capacity building and collaboration has led Marisa to work in various communities across the GTA managing collaboratives that focus on systems level work.

As an advocate for the strong relationship between community agencies and the communities they serve, Marisa has remained committed to the non-profit sector focusing on stakeholder engagement and relationship development.

Marisa’s experience ranges from diversity and cultural competence to organizational leadership and governance across three different regions: Toronto, Peel and Durham.

Currently, Marisa is the Director of Engagement at a non profit organization in Oshawa/ Clarington where she provides expertise in labour relations, strategic direction and policy development.

Marisa holds a Masters degree in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) from Toronto Metropolitan University formerly, Ryerson University, with a focus on health/social policy and their intersection with race and gender. Marisa also holds a Specialist HBA in Political Science from the University of Toronto.
